We ship only within Australia at this time. We do not ship to any locations outside of Australia.

We use the best Logistics services available to us to ship products, livestock and plants to most locations within Australia. We ship to all major cities as well as to most rural/remote locations in the eastern states of Australia. Refer to the following sections for basic shipping and livestock shipping rates.

On checkout, you may see the requirement to pay ‘Shipping’ (depending on Postcode) or ‘Packing Fees’. You must pay this amount even if you choose to Pick up in store or get your item(s) delivered. There are no exceptions to this rule.

Second Nature Aquariums uses the best carriers and logistics teams to ship live tropical fish, invertebrates and plants to all states in Australia in the quickest and safest possible way. We began shipping live fish and other livestock across Australia in 2009. We are one of the few reputable companies who can deliver tropical fish, plants and other livestock from our shop in Orange NSW 2800 to you in Australia.

We are highly experienced in airfreighting live tropical fish and plants. All live fish are carefully bagged in quality fish bags with Medical-grade oxygen, they are then packed carefully in airline approved insulated Styrofoam boxes. We use special heat packs during the colder months to ensure the fish have a reasonable consistent temperature whilst in transit. We provide an ‘Arrive Alive Policy’ to all live fish deliveries (Conditions apply).

Note: Orders can be shipped to your home, work or any other physical address you specify (however, orders cannot be shipped to PO Boxes). You are responsible for providing accurate address details. Second Nature Aquariums accepts no responsibility for items where you have given permission for the courier to deliver the parcel to an unattended address.

Basic Shipping Conditions

Dry Goods are shipped via Australia Post Standard Delivery (7-10 days) by default. Please check delivery times and coverage with this link. ‘Basic Shipping’ starts at $10.95 *, this shipping charge applies to all orders under 3kg in weight and applies regardless of destination or order value. Registered and Express services are also available for selection at checkout. We may also elect to deliver your order by courier or other methods, unless specified, this will be of no extra charge to you, the customer.

Under 3kg
Registered Post

*Rates listed are to all Australian locations. However this excludes all live fish & shrimp as well as certain bulky or fragile items. Orders can include most live plants, snails and most live cultures (please see conditions).

Included are most Dry Goods (aquarium products & accessories), most live plants, most live snails and Live Food Cultures (excluding Daphnia).

However certain items and product types are excluded from this basic shipping offer, those are:

  • Live fish and shrimp
  • Other livestock at management’s discretion
  • Selected bulky items (e.g. substrate)
  • Selected fragile items (e.g. light tubes)

You will know if you have selected excluded items as the basic shipping option will disappear from the postage calculator and in the checkout process. If you require an estimate for live goods/fish shipping, please see the livestock shipping conditions below.

Please note that we are happy to combine livestock and dry goods orders where it is cheaper for the customer. If you need to contact us regarding shipping costs, please don’t hesitate to do so. One of our friendly staff will contact you as soon as they can to work out the best freight deal for your order.

Livestock Shipping Conditions

Second Nature Aquariums ships all live good orders by express couriers. Livestock can be delivered either straight to your door or to your closest airport. The Courier Express service for livestock and delivery to your door could take up to 48 hours for all major metropolitan areas. We send most of our orders using Startrack couriers. In some areas, door to door delivery is not available and you may have to pick up from your nearest airport, depot or Post Office. Note that some regional destinations are outside of this express courier range and may take more than 48hrs for delivery.

Freight costs vary substantially depending on weight, box size and delivery location.

In order to provide the best value to our customers, freight costs are calculated automatically. We will contact you as soon as we can, if there are additional freight charges. Although we are happy to combine shipping of live and dry orders, it is not always the cheapest method. Usually we send your dry goods as a separate order via Australia Post.

Livestock orders must be placed by 5pm Sunday (AEDT) so that they can be shipped in the next available shipping period. Shipping days for livestock orders are only Monday each week, to be able to guarantee a save arrival of your order before the weekend. Therefore no shipments will be sent out if the shipping day falls on a public holiday, or it is a shorter week due to a public holiday - thank you for your understanding.

If your order is placed after 5pm Sunday, your order would need to be sent the following shipping week, as we often have to fast fish for a few days before we send them so they don't pollute the bags too much (polluted bag water = dead fish). As such, you may experience delays in the dispatch of your order if you submit it during or right before the shipping period for a given week. Your order will then be shipped the following week.

We would also recommend filling up the box, when placing a livestock order, with additional fish, plants or other dry goods to split the shipping costs. As for example a 5kg box (standard shipping box) can hold 6-7 medium bags, the larger 20kg shipping box around 12-15 medium bags – we are happy to combine livestock with plants and/or dry goods, as long as they fit in the box.
