Origin: The Sleepy cod is one of Australia’s larger freshwater fish. The species has been known to grow to about 45cm in aquariums, and over 20 kg although it is commonly caught at 2 to 5 kg. The colour of sleepy cod can change according to environmental conditions. Temperature and light will most probably be the factors that effect the fishes colour. They are capable of changing colour within a few minutes. They are carnivorous and can be territorial to smaller specimens.
