The Altolamprologus compressiceps – Gold Head is a captivating and predatory cichlid species endemic to Lake Tanganyika in East Africa. Known for its striking golden body and unique body shape, this variety of Altolamprologus compressiceps is a favorite among hobbyists with a focus on Tanganyikan biotopes. This species exhibits slow, deliberate movements and a preference for rocky environments with plenty of hiding spaces, making it a compelling yet specialized addition to the home aquarium.
Origin: Endemic to the sandy shores of Lake Tanganyika, found on the southwestern side of the lake (Zambian shores).
This species thrives best with peaceful to semi-aggressive Tanganyikan fish of similar size. Avoid housing with small species that may be viewed as prey.
